New members are always welcome! Please join us if you have ideas you would like to share and help implement.
Lifelong Learning at Congregation Kol Haverim offers a wide variety of opportunities for adults. The committee welcomes additional members to our meetings to discuss possible future events.
Speaker/Brunches have been offered periodically on Sunday mornings. Kol Haverim has hosted college professors, Holocaust survivors, Israeli emissaries, A.D.L. representatives, and Scholars-in-Residence from the Hartford Seminary and the Greenberg Center, University of Hartford, to name a few.
An evening Book Club which meets in member’s homes. At least 5 books are discussed throughout the year. The book club is open to all members. If interested, contact Joe Lantos at jlantos@snet.net.
Collaborative efforts with the Hebrew School, Sisterhood and Brotherhood have also been a focus of the LifeLong Learning Committee.
Also, Adult Learning opportunities have been available through Kol Haverim’s connection to the Greater Hartford community. Kol Haverim has been a sponsoring synagogue in the Annual Book Festival, the Annual Film Festival, at the Jewish Community Center in West Hartford. We occasionally collaborate with other area synagogues on some shared programming.
Lifelong Learning sponsors “Nosh N’Drash” on selected Saturday mornings. Rabbi Dr. Kari Tuling leads a discussion of the week’s Torah portion, preceded by bagels and beverages.
Nosh N’ Drash begins at 10 AM when there is no Bar or Bat Mitzvah, with refreshments at 9:30, or occasionally prior to a Bar or Bat Mitzvah Service at 9 AM, in Classroom 10.
Please check the calendar on the website for upcoming dates.
