Hebrew

Shalom Parents,

Now that we finished reviewing the Hebrew letters and vowels, it’s time to start our first prayer of the year. The prayer is called Modeh/Modah Ani. From now on, the student’s homework assignment will be to practice reading the prayer. Each student has his/her own progress pace, which is why I would not post specific lines to study here, on the blog. However, it will be on their individual homework assignment calendar. As always, please do not forget to sign the proper box on the calendar after your child finishes practicing.

Shanah Tovah U'metukah,

Judaica

We continued on the topic of why we pray, specifically in regards to fixed prayer. Our first activity demonstrated the importance of learning, understanding, and practicing fixed prayer in order for it to be meaningful and not confusing. Students then were asked to brainstorm with a partner a list of reasons they pray. We then discussed what items on the list had fixed prayers associated with them and how fixed prayers may help people find the right words to express their feelings or help figure out what they’re feeling.
