2nd Grade Blog                                             October 15, 2017

This past Sunday saw us focusing for the first time on the concept of G'milut Chasidim. G'milut Chasadim is the Jewish practice of doing loving acts of kindness for people around you in order to make the world a better place. We read a classic story by Patricia Polacco, called Mrs. Katz and Tush. In the story, an older woman is befriended by her younger neighbors after her husband dies and they convince her to adopt a cat with no tail. Mrs. Katz then calls the cat Tush.

We spent time afterwards reviewing acts of love and kindness that your children can do around the house to help your house be a better place. They talked about turning off the lights, helping put away their dishes, putting away their laundry, and going to bed when they are supposed to.

We will continue to explore the concept of acts of loving-kindness over the next few weeks. We will be having a family activity on November 19th and all of you are invited to attend.
