Shabbat Worship Services are participatory, engaging and attract
a regular group of worshippers of all ages. Lively modern and traditional
melodies help make Kol Haverim a "singing congregation". Children
are encouraged to participate in many ways including being called to the
bimah each Friday evening and helping to lead the monthly Family Worship
Services. Tot Shabbat Once each month at Kol Haverim, families with young children attend a
special Shabbat worship service on Friday evenings at 6:30 known as the
Tot Shabbat/Bimah Buddy Program. This beautiful half hour service is conducted on the Bimah with children and their parents
seated together. It is followed by an Oneg, and every few months the program
also features a catered dinner in the social hall at 5:30. It is an evening
of Shabbat song, story and prayer loved by all. The Cycle of Yearly Holidays and Festivals are celebrated with special traditions that enhance the meaning of the occasion for children and adults alike. High Holy Day Worship is a time of meaningful spiritual devotion at Kol Haverim. Services are held on Erev Rosh Hashanah, the 1st and 2nd days of Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre, and throughout the day on Yom Kippur. A Children's Holy Day worship program takes place concurrently with Holy Day Morning Worship. These services are open to Kol Haverim members and their families. In Times of Joy and Sorrow the Rabbi is pleased to create meaningful celebrations of Jewish life cycle events such as Britot for newborn Jewish boys and girls, namings, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, weddings and anniversaries, as well as providing healing at times of loss with funerals, memorial services and unveilings. There is also a Kol Haverim Cemetery, located only a few minutes away in Wethersfield. Kol Haverim's ritual committee assists in arranging minyans in the homes of members for shiva. |
